| Polypeptide plays a vital role in various living processes, such as cell proliferation and differentiation, immune defense and tumor
formation. Since the emergence of the first synthesized active polypeptide in 1953, there have been more than 80 peptide drugs reaching the global
market and still more proceeding into clinical development. Peptide drugs are characterized by high effectiveness and specificity, less toxicity, very
low tendency to accumulate in the body and little interaction with other drugs. The current development of peptide drugs in China was reviewed in
this article, so as to provide references for researchers engaged in R&D of peptide drugs. |
